We are looking for a Customer Relationship Manager - Scout Adventures to join our Adventurous team.
Location: Homebased - Will be require frequent planned travel to our centres. Expectation would be approx. 2 visits to each of the 5 centres per year, plus 4 to 6 in person managers meetings.
Salary:£37,800 per annum, Band F, level 3
Term: Permanent
Working Hours: 40 hours per week

About the Customer Relationship Manager Role:
As the Customer Relationship Manager for Scout Adventures, you will oversee and improve all aspects of our customer journey, exceeding our customer expectations and driving levels of satisfaction and loyalty. You will understand the impact you will create on customer experience, and the contribution you will make to the growth of business, and therefore the critical role you will play within the Scout Adventures operation.
What we are looking for in our Customer Relationship Manager:
- Comfortable managing your own workload, time, and logistics.
- Significant prior experience in customer service or customer experience management
- Significant prior experience in outdoor education, residential centres, or a related industry (e.g. hospitality or education
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to influence and negotiate with a wide range of audiences, both internal and external
- Excellent customer service skills and awareness of customer expectations to ensure the customer is at the centre of decision-making
Key responsibilities as our Customer Relationship Manager:
- Develop and implement strategies to improve customer interactions across multiple touchpoints
- Design and implement customer service standards to ensure consistent standards of service delivery are met for improved customer relations
- Provide clear direction and leadership to our customer support teams across Scout Adventures, educating teams on best practice and foster a customer focused culture

We are looking for a Seasonal Cook to join our Adventurous Scout Adventure team based in Hawkhirst, Northumberland.
Location: Hawkhirst Scout Adventures, Plashetts, Hexham NE48 1QZ
Salary:£29,537.60 (Pro-Rata) Band C, Level 3 - (inclusive of Market Supplement)
Term: 6 months Fixed term contract

About the Seasonal Cook Role:
As the seasonal cook, you will be providing delicious and nourishing meals that contribute to the overall enjoyment of their time at Hawkhirst. You will also be joining our great team of over 30 international staff and volunteers who provide memorable experiences for our young people.
What we are looking for in our Seasonal Cook:
You will be joined by a Kitchen Assistant to help you create a great catering environment which includes, menu planning, preparing meals & Leading Volunteer team to comply with Food Safety in kitchen and ensure Health and Safety standards are upheld.
- At least 2 years working in a large professional kitchen environment,ei schools or mass catering
- Proven competence in providing basic catering for up to 200 for Breakfast and Lunch
- Experience of problem solving in a customer service focused environment.
- Some experience in either an educational, outdoor educational or visitor experience environment.
- Confidence working in a values based working environment.
- Hold a suitable food hygiene qualification (e.g. Level 2 Food Hygiene)
Key responsibilities as our Seasonal Cook:
- Preparation and cooking of a varied range of nutritious food for guests and staff at mealtimes
- Serve the food to an exceptional standard and interact with the guests and volunteers in an appropriate, knowledgeable and helpful way at all times, in particular with regard to allergens and other dietary requirements
- Assist in the service and clearing of all food, beverages and utensils
- Assist with routine and deep cleaning of the kitchen, food storage, service and dining areas, including heavy and light equipment and machinery, crockery and cutlery, in accordance with the cleaning schedule

The Social Media Officer Role:
Working in Social Media, you’ll be plugged in on all the news and updates from Scouts. You’ll have opportunity to be involved in developing our social media content to best connect with the Movement and demonstrate the impact and value of Scouting to external audiences.

- Analyse ongoing results to identify trends and insights. Share insight to the wider team to reflect goals, and share learnings on how this will link to SEO
- Manage dialogue with Scouts social media communities by responding to and driving conversations
What we are looking for in our Social Media Officer:
- Excellent knowledge of mainstream social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, an understanding of their content formats and how audiences use them.
- Digital content creation experience for social media for a brand
- Video content creation: including attending events and video shoots to get mobile and platform friendly content to engage various audiences and editing footage in a way that suits the platform
- Successful experience of using social media platforms to run paid campaigns to engage new audiences by interests/demographics
- Experience discussing customer or user needs with colleagues and stakeholders to align around the customer/user’s goals.
- Experience testing content and interpreting data.
- Demonstrable experience of growing and maintaining social media communities, including reputation management

As our Local Growth Officer – Scouts and Explorers, you will be leading a team who deliver exceptional quality support for local Scouting, pro-actively helping Counties and Districts achieve their growth ambitions.
What we are looking for in our Local Growth Officer:
As a Local Growth Officer – Scouts and Explorers, you will be pro-actively helping Counties and Districts achieve their growth ambitions focusing specifically on opening new sections for our Scout and Explorer Scout age ranges (10-18) by collaborating with local volunteers and our wider Growth & Communities team who hold relationships with lead volunteers within each County in England.
Key responsibilities as our Local Growth Officer:
- Support and work in partnership with District Commissioners, Group Scout Leaders and other volunteers to open new Scout and Explorer Scout sections to grow Scouting within the assigned Counties according to their County Growth Plans.
- Open new sections in line with the County Growth Plans, and using local knowledge, collaborating with local volunteers and contributing to the ongoing development of the local inclusive Growth Plan as needed to ensure that we are achieving our ambitions to create more Scouting opportunities for young people aged 10+ within lower IMD areas and predominantly Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.
- Work with the relevant local lead volunteers, to understand their current community reach and identify opportunities for growth within their local areas.

About the Seasonal Instructor Role:
We’re looking for instructors to join our team who are just as passionate as we are about getting young people outdoors to have an adventure. You will be an experienced instructor who has worked with a wide range of groups and in a number of disciplines including Paddle Sports, and a variety of other sessions which might include Target Sports, Bushcraft, Climbing and High Ropes. You’ll also be happy to provide peer support for our volunteer instructors acting as a role model for good instructing, and even helping with aspects of training and monitoring, as well as all the other aspects of operating a busy activity centre.
What we are looking for in our Seasonal Instructor:
We’re looking for someone to join our team who is just as passionate as we are about getting young people outdoors to have an adventure. You will have already spent at least one year working in a similar environment and will have a range of qualifications. You’ll also be happy to support all the other aspects of operating a busy Activity Centre, including leading teams in day-to-day tasks and being on duty for guests.
Key responsibilities as our Seasonal Instructor:
- Act as a role model ensuring best practice within the instructing team, informally mentoring less experienced instructors and volunteers.
- Work with our centre teams to deliver high quality adventure experiences to our customers.
- Assist with the maintenance, preparatin, organisation and issuing of equipment.
- Assist in the daily site tasks t ensure a functional environment to deliver residential experiences.
- Undertake evening Duty shifts n a rota basis, assisting the supervision of groups and provision of evening activities.
